Flag weights

Flag weights are used with flagpoles that have either an internal halyard system or are fitted with a rotating banner arm. The weight tensions the halyard system or banner (in the case of a banner arm). This helps to keep everything in place so that the flag or banner is displayed to maximum effect.  Most of these weights are basically a chain or shaped metal sling either encapsulated in a plastic sleeve or thick webbing.  Basically, they just wrap around and sit near the bottom of the flagpole, rotating around it as the flag moves with the direction of the wind.

Factors to consider

Flagpole weights come in different sizes and styles.  They are usually supplied as part of the flagpole system at the time of purchase. However, flag weights can become detached from the flag or banner, become lost, deteriorate or sometimes get stolen – necessitating the purchase of a replacement. The size and style of weight required will depend upon the height of the flagpole and to some extent the make of the flagpole. It is important to obtain the correct size of flag weight as the wrong one may impair the performance of the flag or banner.  At Flagpole Company we can advise on the most suitable type of replacement once we have gathered some basic facts.
