What to do when your flag is tangled up?

You need to assess the risk to the person who will be performing the task before you try to free or untangle a flag. If you are are concerned about the risk or in any doubt we would recommend you contact a flagpole expert. However, if you are comfortable that it is safe there are few things you can try first.

Tips for untangling your flag
If the flag is tangled up, sometimes a few gentle tugs on or an untwisting of the halyard, might be enough to free the flag. Be aware that sometimes things can be worse after too much tugging so try not to tug too much.  Especially if a few gentle tugs have made no difference to the flag. On the other hand, if you are able to assess the risk and safely lower the flagpole then you could probably resolve the matter. If not its time to contact an expert.
Our flagpole engineer will be able to assess the risks and determine the safest method of resolving the issue. Using our flagpole maintenance service will help determine the cause of the problem and we can see how this can be prevented from happening again.
